Canadian Vet and Tech

Ontario Veterinary Medical Association

The OVMA is an association of veterinarians in Ontario and is the largest organization of its kind in Canada. It provides services, information, education and advocacy to its members. Through the Farley Foundation, the OVMA is able to help hundreds of low-income owners to cover unexpected veterinary costs. It holds a large annual Conference and Trade Show.

Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians

The OAVT is the professional organization for Registered Veterinary Technicians in the province. Its role is to maintain and promote professional standards, education and outreach to associations and groups engaged in related activities. The OAVT hosts a popular annual conference.

College of Veterinarians of Ontario

The CVO is the regulatory body for veterinarians in Ontario. Its role is to promote the public interest by ensuring safe, competent and ethical veterinary care. It is responsible for licensure, practice accreditation, policies and standards, and investigating complaints.

Canadian Veterinary Medical Association

The CVMA is the national organization for veterinarians in Canada and represents their interests nationally and internationally. It advocates for animal welfare and promotes work-life balance for veterinarians. The CVMA publishes the Canadian Veterinary Journal and the Canadian Journal of Veterinary Research, and holds the annual CVMA Convention, which is held in different parts of Canada each year.

Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada

The RVTTC is a national organization uniting provincial/regional veterinary technician and technologist associations. Its mission is “promoting the veterinary technologist profession, establishing and maintaining national standards of membership, and becoming a resource regarding national and international issues”. It includes six provincial associations and over 6,000 individual members.
